Hope is in Tuvalu! I'm on the Malaga tribe with Bobby, Cochran, Courtney, Jaclyn, Jefra, John, Vytas and Shii Ann. Coach and Jefra were the two returning players. I don't really know much from their previous seasons, so might have to do my research into that. I know who Jefra is, she's the same Jefra from Can You Survive. I played with her twice in that series, we were on opposite sides our first time, but worked together in our second season, which finished just a few weeks ago. It'll be interesting to see what our relationship is like this time around.
I'm not sure what to make of the Treasure Trove twist. It seems that the challenges winners will just get more of an advantage, given they're keeping their numbers, and getting prizes too. The rich get richer, the poor get poorer. As for the One World twist, that's always tricky. I want to maintain good relations with Loa Seki, but I don't want to be making too many deals, especially early, cause then I'll come across as shady. I don't expect any of them to give me too much info on their tribe dynamics, and I'm certainly going to be tight lipped on my end.
Jaclyn and I hit it off right away. She said she doesn't usually approach people for alliances, she waits for them to come to her, but in this instance, she asked me if I was up for working together, and I instantly agreed. We started talking about who we could bring in, she mentioned Courtney, I said John. We agreed it was maybe a bit early in the game to solidify anything with them, we just needed to build our relationships with them and the rest of the tribe and hopefully position ourselves well.
Unfortunately, we lost the challenge, and it wasn't particularly close. In fact, we got destroyed. It was pretty demoralising and made me worried how we'd fare in the future. It's never a good feeling to lose the first challenge, cause then the pressure's really on at the next challenge. I did manage to score a couple of times though, so I felt I proved my worth to Malaga. John and Jaclyn were probably the two best scorers for our tribe, but even they were no match for the likes of Cao Boi and Alec, who were on fire.
Everyone kind of agreed that we'd vote out one of our weaker challenge competitors, so Shii Ann and Vytas immediately came to mind. Both were around just before the challenge, then disappeared without warning. Vytas later came on and said he had computer issues and apologised, saying he'd make up for it at the next challenge. He made an effort to really campaign for himself to stay, Shii Ann didn't really give a reason for not participating in the challenge and apparently barely spoke to anyone.
Courtney was the first to start spreading Vytas' name around, and Jaclyn and I thought it might be best if we get the girls to stick together, we have the numbers 5-4 after all. Unfortunately, the guys seemed dead set on voting Shii Ann, so the only way we could save her, would be to split the tribe, which really would be ridiculous this early on. But still, it was tempting to have that power, cause Shii Ann would be totally loyal to us if we saved her, and it would be me/Jaclyn/Courtney running the tribe, instead by keeping Vytas, it was like we were handing power over to the guys.
Jefra then came clean to me and admitted that she had an alliance with John and Bobby, they said to her that she could choose to add a girl to make it a group of four, so there's a gender balance, and she told me that she would suggest me to them. Of course I was on board for that, so Jefra made a group chat, and kind of was like "John and Hope, stop making this girls vs. boys!" which was pretty awkward for both of us, but Jefra's pretty blunt I guess. I don't fully trust that alliance and feel I'm at the bottom, and that John/Bobby may be more loyal to Vytas/Cochran than they are to me.
Jefra was pretty adamant about voting out Shii Ann, cause she never talked to her, plus she didn't want to upset John/Bobby by going behind their back this early. So I made Jefra promise that if I voted out Shii Ann this time, that she'd vote with me/Jaclyn/Courtney for a guy the next time around. I told Jaclyn/Courtney that we just have to prove ourselves in the challenges, so the guys have no reason to target us, plus get close with Jefra, to make sure she'll side with us next time around. In the end, me/Jaclyn/Courtney caved, and Shii Ann left 8-1, with Vytas getting her vote.
