“Appear weak when you are strong, and strong when you are weak.”
So.. here I am. I'm very glad to have been picked by Coach's tribe... and after talking with him it appears that I was his first male castaway choice. That's obviously great news for me but it's a far cry from how I will play this game.
Survivor shares a lot of traits with The Art of War. You have to know your enemy, but at the same time, you cannot let your guard down. Unlike real war, where your allies are your soldiers, your brothers.. in Survivor your allies could turn on you in a heartbeat. It's important to adapt to the game. But in the end, everything The Art of War offers in terms of advice can be applied to Survivor. For instance, "Appear weak when you are strong, and strong when you are weak." My plan is to be a strong social player, and while everyone thinks the little old Asian man won't be much of a threat in challenges, I will always give my 110% but it's also important for me to not appear to be a dominant player in the challenges. I have to make sure people don't view me as a threat when in reality I am a very big threat.
So far after having talked with Coach it seems I may have myself a valuable ally. Our ideals are alike. Our interests are mutually aligned. We both want to succeed beyond all costs. As long as I stay on Coach's good side I feel like I stand a good chance so far in this game. I will continue to talk to everyone else and see what I can learn from them. Who I feel I can trust, who I feel I wouldn't trust with my life.
I have to say though, both tribes living together will make for an interesting dynamic. You are able to read the enemy, to know what their next move might be. Most of the times, in war, you do not see the enemy until it's too late.. this time, I know what the enemy is thinking and I know where they sleep.
